:iconkemporer:(Varric), :icongentlemanskull:(Doctor Who), Jess(Casual Isabela), and myself(Alistair), went down to the Renaissance Faire in Bristol, WI last weekend and had some fun together.  My GoPro was actually cooperative this year and allowed me to document the day with videos.

Here's what happened:

Now to get my butt in gear fixing up and finishing some things for Dragon*Con, which is a mere month away.  Oh glob...

I’ve had a few people ask about when my friends and I are planning on attending the Bristol Renaissance Faire, and I promised I’d make a post when I officially knocked out a date for it.

On Saturday, July 26th the faire is hosting a fantasy costume day, and since I’m scheduled off of work that day anyway, that is the day I’m planning on attending.

This is Bristol, WI, in the United States.  Not Bristol in the UK.  Sorry, overseas chums!  If you want to join us, here’s the address.  We typically arrive by lunchtime, and usually stay until after dinner, sometimes until they close.  Afterwards, hitting up Culver’s for some frozen custard almost always happens.

Barring disaster, I shall be wearing my Alistair Theirin splintmail costume, and though I can’t verify if my friends will be wearing any of their Dragon Age gear(Dale will most likely bring Varric), there will be several of us in attendance.  Although encouraged, a costume is not required by any means.  Come say hello, and I will not only be surprised at connections being made, but will be more than happy to spend the day galavanting around with you, most likely causing you regret and irritation by evening, followed by an immediate unfollowing on deviantART upon the next internet opportunity.

Okay, so that’s drastic, but my point is that if you’d like to hang out with some Dragon Age people at the Renaissance Faire and fan over Dragon Age, or whatever, this is an opportunity to do so.

Since I had several replies last year loathing not being able to attend for reasons of not being aware, in spite of several posts I made in advance, expect numerous reblogs of this.  If you don’t wish to see that and have something that can block tags, such as TumblrSavior, I’ll be tagging each of these posts with ‘DA at Bristol’, so feel free to block that tag.

Additionally, here’s the event listing on Facebook if you’d like to connect that way.  If you have any questions, hit me up with an Ask, PM, Facebook Message, or whatever floats your proverbial boat, and I’d be happy to help clarify.

Need more convincing?  This is what happened in 2011.

Still not convinced?  Well, we’re going without you, and we’re going to have fun.  All the fun.

C2E2 2014

1 min read
The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo(C2E2) is this weekend at McCormick Place.

C2E2's on-par with Dragon*Con as far as my personal favorite conventions go(both for different reasons), and I wasn't able to attend in 2013 due to a wedding that popped up, so I essentially have rollover excitement accumulated all the way from 2012.

Costumes I'm bringing:
   Friday:        Hellgate: London hunter

    Saturday:    Alistair Theirin

    Sunday:      Rabid Heavy
(from Meet the Rabid Heavy Taming Engineer)

If you'll be attending, come say hello!

(you can read more on my Tumblr if you'd like additional details)

Dragon*Con

1 min read
Woo!  It's been quite a while since my last journal entry.  D:

Anyway, I'm just about finished packing all of my stuff for Dragon*Con.  My friends and I are making the long haul from Wisconsin down to Atlanta once again, but over the course of two days this time instead of one like last year.

I'll be bringing Alistair, of course, as well as my new Hellgate London hunter costume.  I hope to God it holds up.  D:

Hope to see some of you fine ladies and gents down there!

We've returned from Daisho Con.  It was much smaller than what we're used to(Chicago con venues and Dragon*Con, for example), so I wasn't really expecting too much going in.  We had a good time regardless, and kind of made our own fun.  It was at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells, so I figured we couldn't really lose.

Stupidity ran rampant as I ran around with my new GoPro Hero 3 and my Canon T2i.  You've been warned on that front:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v3rsJ…

I'm going to keep my mohawk until Christmas, I think.  I want to play some laser tag at CMP Tactical in my Soap costume for the lulz, and it's a decently comfy hairstyle, even if I don't prefer it.  Plus every one at CBS is cool with it.

I think that's the last con for the 2012 convention season for most of my friends.  Time to hope the world doesn't come to an end on my birthday.  If not, I'll be getting to work on my Hellgate: London Hunter costume!

RAMBLY-PANTS OUT!
